Stacked Pickle Eyes Expansion into The Prairie State
It was December 21, 2018. The FIU Panthers erased a 10-0 first-quarter deficit, to take the lead and hold on for a 35-32 victory over the Toledo Rockets in the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl. It was an exciting game that drew quite the sizable audience – one of which was former Super Bowl winner and Indianapolis Colts Defensive Captain, Gary Brackett. Gary is the Owner and CEO of the Indianapolis-based sports bar, The Stacked Pickle and he became intrigued about opening a location in Elk Grove, Illinois after the village of over 32,000 people paid to sponsor the Bahamas Bowl. This was quite the unconventional sponsorship for the Bahamas Bowl, as Elks Grove used this sponsorship and the Makers Wanted marketing tagline as a way to promote its sprawling industrial park.
“I was watching the game and saw the commentary about this town in Chicago,” said Gary. “At the same time for the last few months, we’ve been looking to expand our brand in the Chicago area. Doing our due diligence on Chicago as a market, I feel a town that would make that type of commitment to a bowl game and us being a sports bar, I think it’d be a great marriage,” he said.

There are currently nine Stacked Pickle locations, all of which are in Indiana. Elk Grove and the surrounding vicinity is being looked at as a potential site location as we begin expanding outside of the Hoosier State. Gary and his staff have been talking with potential Franchise Owners about the possibility of opening up as many as three Stacked Pickle restaurants in the Chicago area – either this year or next.
